Big Dog - Branding
Project Summary
Big Dog (98.9 FM / 1340 AM), a premier radio station based in Fremont, Nebraska, required a comprehensive visual rebrand and logo redesign to modernize its identity while honoring its deep roots in the community. The project involved a complete overhaul of the station's visual language, transitioning the brand into a high-impact, contemporary space centered around the core directive: "New look. Same dog." By balancing aggressive typography with a versatile new primary logo and a responsive "BD" monogram, the updated identity delivers a powerful aesthetic that matches the station's commanding on-air energy and its unique programming mix of classic country hits and today's favorites.

The Challenge
The station's previous identity relied on an outdated logo and lacked cohesive branding standards, making it difficult to project a unified, modern presence across different mediums. Key challenges included visual fragmentation and a legacy design style that felt static, failing to align with the high-energy, dynamic nature of a broadcast station that blends classic country with today's hits. While the original assets carried strong local recognition, the overall brand execution lacked the high-quality, polished look needed to stand out in a modern digital and media landscape.
The Solution
We executed a complete brand evolution centered on the directive, "New look. Same dog," delivering a modernized visual identity with strict branding standards built for cross-platform utility. To protect the station's local brand equity, we kept the color palette similar to the original identity to ensure instant recognition for long-time listeners. However, we completely overhauled the visual assets by introducing a premium typography system paired with a highly adaptable logo ecosystem.
This new identity introduces a dynamic system of primary master logos designed to command attention on major assets like billboards and web banners, alongside flexible secondary marks and badges tailored for diverse marketing materials. We also developed a sleek, minimal "BD" monogram lockup engineered specifically to pop on small digital surfaces, such as mobile app icons and social media profiles. By creating these multiple asset variations, we gave Big Dog a cohesive, hard-working design system that maintains crisp visual consistency across every single touchpoint.
