Social Media Case Study: How a Reels-First Strategy Accelerated Audience Growth
How Performance Digital helped an established Omaha restaurant increase reach, engagement, and followers across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook through a video-first social media strategy.
When Performance Digital began managing the client’s social media in October 2025, the brand had engaged audiences across its platforms but significant room to grow.
The strategy initially included a mix of static and video content. In March 2026, Performance Digital made a deliberate shift toward short-form video and Reels, creating a turning point in social performance. From that point forward, every major platform showed stronger reach, engagement, and audience growth.

The Challenge
Turning Social Media Presence Into Consistent Growth
The client needed more than regular posting. The goal was to create a content strategy that could introduce the brand to new audiences, increase engagement, and turn viewers into followers.
During the first several months, static content remained a significant part of the content mix. Performance Digital identified short-form video as the biggest opportunity and shifted the strategy in March 2026 to prioritize Reels and video content across platforms.
The Strategy
Creating Content Built for Social Media
Performance Digital focused on producing social-first video designed to capture attention quickly and encourage interaction.
The strategy emphasized:
- Short-form video and Reels
- Consistent platform-specific content
- Content designed for reach and engagement
- Testing formats to identify what audiences responded to
- Using performance data to guide future content
As video became a larger part of the strategy, performance accelerated across all three platforms.

Instagram Generated More Than 1.4 Million Views

Facebook Reel Views Increased 6.6x
The client’s established Facebook audience also responded strongly to the video-first strategy. Facebook Reel views increased from 22,490 to 147,600, while post likes grew 2.6x and the account continued adding new followers.
Why the Strategy Worked
Video became the growth engine.
The largest performance gains followed the shift toward short-form video and Reels.
Content was built for engagement.
The focus moved beyond simply filling a social calendar toward creating content people would stop, watch, interact with, and share.
Each platform contributed differently.
TikTok became the strongest growth channel, Instagram delivered major reach and engagement, and Facebook showed that fresh video content could re-energize an established audience.
Across all three platforms, every core metric tracked improved from the first reporting period to the second.
The Bottom Line
A strategic shift toward short-form video helped turn the client’s social media presence into a growing content ecosystem.
In the second reporting period, TikTok views increased more than 7x, Instagram engagement grew 4.6x, and Facebook Reel views increased 6.6x, while each platform continued adding new followers.
