Your Marketing Checklist: 5 Things to Do Before Summer Ends

Performance Digital • July 15, 2025

Real Talk: Summer vacation is halfway over. The sun's hot, your iced coffee budget is out of control, and your customers? They're either poolside or in panic mode about back-to-school.

Before the chaos hits this Fall, here are 5 super doable marketing to-do's you can knock out in one afternoon.

1. Fix Your Google Hours So People Know You're Actually Open

People are still Googling you before they show up and no one wants to drive to your door only to find it locked.

Do this:

Hot Tip: Keeping your profile updated helps with SEO too. Google loves an active business.

2. Check Your Contact Forms on Your Website

If your form is broken or going to spam...

Do this:

  • Test your website contact forms on mobile + desktop
  • Check where the leads are going
  • Make sure if you have an autoresponder that it feels like a real human wrote it

People expect fast replies. Set up a simple "Thanks! We'll be in touch within 24 hours."

3. Post a Summer Photo Dump

Everyone loves a good photo post. If your feed has been crickets, now's the time to show some life.

Do this:

  • share a few team photos, projects, or behind the scenes moments

Don't overthink it: People want to see you, not stock photos from 2016

4. Give Your Ads a Summer Glow-Up

Your spring promos are out of season. You might be wasting money if you're not speaking to what people care about right now.

Do this:

  • check your Facebook/Instagram/Google ads
  • Swap in summer photos, new copy, or maybe a limited-time offer
  • Use phrases like "last chance before school," or "Summer special"

Retarget folks who visited your site in June. They could be close to becoming a client or customer.

5. Refresh Your Google Reviews

People absolutely read reviews before booking or purchasing. Summer is peak "we meant to write one but forgot" season.

Do this:

  • Text or email a quick review request to happy clients and customers
  • Make it super easy - send the Google review link directly to them
  • Example: "Loved working with you! Mind leaving us a quick review? It helps a ton [link]"

Bonus: Repost good reviews as instagram graphics or stories.

Summer marketing is all about showing up, being human, and making it super easy for your audience to say "yes". If you need help knocking this list out or finding out more ways to improve your business's online presence, Performance Digital is one email away.

If you've ever scrolled through a website or app and thought, "Wow this website looks really cool," but then couldn't figure out how to actually checkout or find the menu, you've experienced the tug-of-war between UI and UX. These terms get thrown around a lot in the tech and marketing world, and sometimes are often put together ("UI/UX"). But while they are basically best friends who work together, they are definitely not the same thing. If you are a student looking into design or a business owner trying to figure out why your website isn't bringing you sales, here is the breakdown.

You can have the best business in the world, but if you don't have a website or your current website looks really outdated, people are going to click the "X" and leave your website before they even see what you do. As a designer, I see these same mistakes every single day. The good news is that most of your website's problems are super easy to fix. If your site has any of these 5 red flags, then it's time to build a new one or give your current site a little glow-up.

Let’s be real: in 2026, if your business isn’t online, it basically doesn’t exist. When people hear about a new brand, the first thing they do is stalk the website or look for the Google reviews or check out their social media. We recently presented the 7 Marketing Essentials Every New Business Needs to contestants at The Fremont Pitch It Contest and students at Midland University and we want to share our insight with everyone. Whether you're just starting out or leveling up your current set up, here is your starter pack for digital success.

Going viral is often viewed as the ultimate social media success. One video takes off, views skyrocket, and suddenly your brand is in front of thousands or even millions of new users. While viral content can be incredibly valuable for brand awareness, it is not realistic or sustainable to rely on virality alone. The primary goal of social media marketing is not to go viral with every post. The goal is to clearly communicate who your business is, what you offer, and why your audience should continue engaging with your content. Virality should support your strategy, not replace it.
